Day 47: Back in Mass!

Brattleboro, Vermont to Cambridge, Massachusetts – Lowell House

Miguel and I got going early at 4:40 a.m. We crossed over the Connecticut River, and into New Hampshire. There was no “Welcome to New Hampshire” sign to take a photo with, so we took one with the Connecticut River sign. We battled hills for the first half of the day, but got into Massachusetts at the bottom of one of the last big downhills. Then it got nice and flat for the rest of the way. We hit a road closure sign, but after talking to some locals, we thought we could get through on bikes. When we got to the construction site, there was a crew working. We talked to Adrian to see if we could get through. He was a cool guy and was excited to escort us through the work zone.

I made Miguel a signature PB-Nutella-Banana & Jelly Burrito for lunch at a small park. We ate and took a quick break. Back on the bikes, we chugged on and eventually hit the Minuteman Bike Path. This was exciting as it was a path I had ridden many times before. Finally, we biked into Cambridge, through Harvard Square, and pulled up to Lowell House to find Georgia waiting for us with burritos and Gatorade. Thank you Georgia! We got to hang out with so many of our tutor friends from school, and got to see Fran and Rhea’s new apartment. We relaxed, and played with Wally (the dog).

Miguel drove over 6 hours to meet me and then biked a full day, almost 100 miles without any cycle training. I knew he could handle it, cause he’s a real stud. He rode like a champ and came away with only a sore butt, and hopefully, a good day! What a great friend to ride all the way out here to meet me, and do a full ride! He’s going meet me in P-Town for the end of my ride too. Thanks so much Miguel!

I met Andy and Bryce at the Russel House Tavern for dinner. So glad they could make it. I even got some of Julie’s famous chocolate chip cookies for the road. I met back up with Ryan and Enio, and had dinner #2 at Felipe’s. It was great to see so many friends today. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see Kelly, but she offered her room for the night. Thanks for a great place to shower, and sleep Kelly. Last day tomorrow. Let’s Go!!!
