Day 38: Rest & Relaxation

Newark, Ohio – Fun with Jenni, Jose, Nando and Evie

I slept in until 7:30 a.m. today. That’s late for me now. Jose made me an awesome omelet for breakfast, and I spent the morning playing with Nando and Evie. I took some time to plan-out the last 9 days of my route. Let’s Go! The end is near! I also checked over my bike, and did some minor repairs. I switched out the handlebar tape, which was long overdue, and did a deep clean of the cassette, chain and gears. As I was organizing my gear, I realized that I had thrown my headphones in the washing machine with all my clothes. I fished them out of the dryer, and tried them. Somehow they had survived! For lunch, we had homemade beef stew, which was amazing. I’m going to sacrifice one of my water bottles to take some to-go for dinner tomorrow.

We got pastries at, The Station, and headed to COSI, The Columbus Museum of Science for the afternoon. I may have fallen asleep in the planetarium. The highlights were definitely the King Tut exhibit and seeing the axolotls. Back at the house, we had another delicious dinner of smoked steak, bacon, vegetables, corn on the cob, and ice cream for dessert. Such a good time, and sad to say goodbye. Thank you to Jenni, Jose, Nando and Evie for hosting me and feeding me! Hope to see you again soon. VIEW PHOTOS
