Exploring Yellowstone with Scotty & Daniel
We started the day off early with a massive breakfast from the lodge we stayed at the night before. It was an all-you-can-eat buffet, so I definitely got my money’s worth! After breakfast we headed deeper into Yellowstone with the plan of exploring several different hiking trails. First, we hit West Thumb Geyser Basin. Set along the shore of Yellowstone Lake, we took an easy boardwalk through boiling hot springs and geysers. The landscape and views are amazing! So different from home!
Farther into the park we saw more bison (even one swimming), mud volcanoes and other interesting hot springs. We went on a longer hike at the Yellowstone Grand Canyon and did a trek along the rim to a premier overlook and then a hike down to the base of the Lower Falls. We had PBJ’s for lunch and did another hike to find Lost Lake, along the way we found bear fur on the side of a tree! For our last trip of the day we drove to Mammoth Springs. The colors and scenery were unreal!
Don’t tell Mom, but Didiar (the biker I met 2 days ago) warned me he had 3 bear encounters biking through the Yellowstone and Teton ranges, one of which sounded scary. Makes me glad I won’t be riding solo through these parts, and I have my cousins to hike and explore with.
Later, a rain storm came over so we made our way to West Yellowstone for dinner at Pete’s Rocky Mountain Pizza. We set up camp and were pretty tired. Hoping for a good night sleep. View Today’s Photo Gallery –>
